If you have not experienced a thunderstorm right off the Gulf of Mexico there is nothing like it. The cloud bottom is often no more than 250-300 meters off of the ground and as such they produce some tremendous lightning bolts with thunder that almost knocks you down. Often the flash to bang time around us is well under half a second. posted by: Cyberpal (reply) post date: 06.22.04 (6:43 am) Not sure I'd enjoy living there with all those storms, thunder and hurricane type wind conditions... and here I was thinking it was only ever sunny out there.... shows how much I know.. or dont know as the case maybe! :) posted by: BLOU (reply) post date: 06.22.04 (8:40 am) Reply to: Cyberpal I have to say that I have never experienced such a low ceiling during a storm as I did when visiting Magoo and Greybeard. We get some good storms here but I tell ya ... it scared the crap outta me and I found myself holding Magoo's hand when running to the car .... the lightning was too close for comfort! posted by: BLOU (reply) post date: 06.22.04 (8:42 am) Thanks Sis for "flogging my blog" I'm doing great on the score board. Your hubby actually bribed folks on my behalf ... I gotta go out and talk to Santa now! posted by: Cyberpal (reply) post date: 06.22.04 (8:46 am) Reply to: BLOU That seals it then.... never living down there.... cant stand thunder anyways, let alone lightening being close... I'm 6"2 to boot.... thx for the heads-up blou ;) posted by: ScarlettGKPi (reply) post date: 06.22.04 (11:28 am) Yes my only thing with living in Florida would be the storms. Wait, that makes no sense...I am going to be living in Illinois soon with John and there's tornados! Ok...I am silly. Like your quote for the day and yay glad to see another wonderful person campaigning for Blou!! posted by: islandArtist (reply) post date: 06.22.04 (12:19 pm) That quote is so perfect for my mother in law... gawd! Check out my blog Magoo- Got your elephant posted! posted by: BLOU (reply) post date: 06.22.04 (4:30 pm) Reply to: Cyberpal Well if you do go ... stay clear of Greybeard during lightning ... he is the human lightning rod! I believe he has been struck by the great light twice! posted by: Cyberpal (reply) post date: 06.23.04 (5:31 am) Reply to: BLOU Thx for the heads-up.. I'll bear that in mind ;) |
